Just a helpful hand please folks.

The car is a T reg merc 220cdi with a fair few miles on it.

I'm experiencing a loss of power when the car reaches 3000 revs. Not so much a loss of power but it's like it hits a rev limiter and won't go above the 3000 mark. However, this is only when the car is warm. When it's cold, no problems at all, it goes well. I can hear the turbo whistling when it pulls away as well. This lack of power is a right old pain on the motorway.

I've changed the air filter, checked other obvious stuff, any ideas at all?

Thanks in advance
Mike.

Have you checked the MAF?
I'm not sure where it is on a Merc but if they get dirty or if they are dead there is a loss of power.

Try disconecting it and check if you still have the same problem

I expect you are in limp mode, a chap at work had the same problem a while ago.
He got his fixed by a dealer, I can't remember what his problem was tho', he had a few around that time.
