I find it.. in Autocar.. und in Sexpress on page 12 by Jo Macfarlane. I search sexy site for gory detail. They not posted it up yet rolleyes I sure someomne find a linky to this story wink as it appear in today's "Autocar" und "Express - page 10 reported by Jo Macfarlane"

But anyway .. this the Big Brother of scams as it monitor 4 lanes. yikes It described as "vandal proof" (Nothing ist that.. they have delusions there wink)

The cams are 13 foot above road. They digital. They not flash. Image go to nearest police station yikes (It mean police lose pals yet again .. und we all want to love our lovely police. lovecloud9 but nono we not not support "silliness" wink

Captain Gatso quoted as saying "a challenge for angle grinder man - but he "work on this"! wink

Ja.. they invent.. so do the criminal hooligan or vigilante work on his fight back winkrolleyes It not that I support the good captain ... but I do understand his anger all the same. wink I think it undermine Paul und the logical counter -argument. But I can still understand the white heat of the anger here. I think police und authorities should at least try to understand this anger as only then can they hope to soothe it down wink. They need to -if they are to keep the mutual respect/awe/compliance/intelligence/work together with respectful compliance und neogtiation wink

The Device ist called IDEE (innovative Digital Enforcement Environemt) It cost £30-50 K with the electronics able to

be insulated against extreme heat. Able to survive fires.. able to monitor 4 lane of traffic
That so? Well given 2006 summer .. should we then have challenged all NIPS on that basis? confused

ABD already slated this contraption

Interestingly .. Home Office say gadget has to be approved und cannot be used as evidence unless they approve.

What worry me most ist this quote from DfT in Sexpress from DfT

We don't comment on which companies have applied for type approval due to commercial confidence"!

13ft up though - would need a /long/ ladder.

ETA: Missed you'd mentioned "ladder" smile

A lot of money to lay out for a scamera if the Treasury is going to collect all the loot. Has to be something in it for the 'locals', shirley?

They also have vibration sensors in them

I think a big hood would be in order, chuck it over job done, no damage to get nicked for. laugh

No one will check it as the film never runs out so who's gonna see the hood, they'll just think everyone's driving properly. wink

I had the sneakiest of sneaky ideas earlier, reading about this in Auto Express. How about, a square of that one-way mirror glass - put the shiny side pointing into the lens, so from outside it'll look entirely normal... I assume there's come sort of clear adhesive that wouldn't smear, somewhere...

Disclaimer - I would only attempt this on your own cameras, because all automatic speed monitoring technology exists purely for the greater good. Don't speed, don't commit acts of vandalism, etc, etc.

A ten foot pole with a vaseline-smeared sponge on the end would deal effectively with these cameras. biggrin

Being accidently run in to by an HGV might damage it?

As others have said, why not educate drivers? You could educate a lot of people for £30-50k!

There is always a weak point with these devices - how do they transmit the data back to base? If it is hardwired a bit of spade work and a snip - problem solved! If transmitted wirelessly - little jamming device. obviously these are purely thoughts and i won't condone any such action. Also being a careful driver I am observant and drive with a speed appropriate to the conditions!!

If its a one-way transmission you can't jam the transmitter, you have to jam the receiver.
