I was driving my 2000 Griffith 500 last night; had the headlights and heater on, etc.

Suddenly, without warning, it experienced a total loss of electrical power.

Had to get the RAC to recover it to my house.

There's power across the battery terminals, but nothing else.

I have heard stories about the mysterious 100A main fuse, but have been unable to locate it.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Peege

It's at the front of the car down near the Chassis, try and follow the Red cable from the Battery and you should find it.

Aah, so I did see this elusive Big Fuse when poking around under a Chimaera at a garage recently.
Is it inside a black plastic box about 6cm long, 3 cm wide and 2cm deep which is strapped to the the offside chassis rail not far from the starter?

Damned interesting poking about under someone else's - similar-but-different car, especially a newer one.

The fuse near the starter is only the alternator fuse. The main fuse is between the battery and fuse box, follow the brown wire and it should be there.

I think the later cars had the big fuses moved into the footwell. Seems a trend what with the wiper motor as well wink

Hi PHers,

My Griff roars again!

Yes, David Mod-wise, the culprit was the 100A fuse in the passenger footwell.

Managed to obtain a replacement today from Roath Garage, Cardiff. (Thanks, Peter.)

The plastic holder looked pretty ropey as well, so I've ordered a few spares on eBay from Magini Lighting.

Again, thanks very much for all your advice.

Cheers,

Peege
