Making the silver black?

I know some of you lovely people have changed the silver mirror supports and the silver rear wing stands to black. How is this best achieved?

Should I remove the mirrors and paint them?

as they are alloy there are two ways

1) Anodise them black. This would be my preferred route.
2) Paint them with black plastic paint

Definately Anodising as first choice. Not sure what finish you will get as the ally has been well weathered but sure an expert will be able to tell you if you will get a good finish. I personally wanted them chromed for total bling bling but no chromers round here would do then.

when they strip the old anodizing I think they use acid , this opens the "pores" of the aluminium and the second attempt is therefore not always as nice as the first , not so bad with black I think though , just ask for advice from the anodizers .

i have 2packed painted my wing mirror supports and rear wing support in the same colour as the car .i have used 2pack on my other cars i.e wheels rocker covers etc and find it quite tough .must agree i like anodising but find it a limited choice for colours and most look like they have been bought from the likes of halfrauds etc

I'm guessing you used "etch" primer to get a "key" first , as it can be difficult to get paint to stick to anodizing otherwise ....

Just get them from Noble; they're standard M400 parts. I think they look naff, and speced silver ones for mine, but each to his own!

Only considering doing those bits as my 2nd set of wheels is being done in a different colour just to be different

Think Blue car with gold wheels will look smart, like the scoobies do IMO. For a 2nd set of rims I thought I'd have a go. :0

Now just worry that the silver bits mentioned above will look silly with gold wheels as all other "bits" on the cars are black.

yep sure do.ive coluor coded mine because lets face it that rear spoiler looks straight out of max power mag circa mid nineties imo the spoiler coded makes it look a little more designed for the car.would also like to change the wing mirrors to something more attached instead of being on stalks

I think the new TT mirrors look ver nice. Need to be fixed onto the door tho, and TBH i am not sure what strength there is, would it handle 170 MPH winds?

I think powder would just blow off over about 30mph mate. Nice thought though. I'd stick to sawing wood and hammering nails.

i must be doing well cos not had anything fall off at 165 yet :P Dont know about 170, my car wont go that fast

I spent a week working in a powder coating factory that made metal chairs and bed frames. Boy it was hot in there!!!!
