Track Day Insurance

Usual recommendations seem to be: http://www.moris.co.uk/ and http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/
Is it for a track day at the 'ring or for TF?

I'm looking to take my 911 to the 'ring next year and am having a first look at the prices of 1/2 day track insurance. The first place I have contacted came back with a price of £360 for 1 day and £533 for 2 days and the excess would be 10% of the value of the car.
Does this sound about right or a bit on the high side ?? Sounds like quite a lot to me.....
The alternative for a similar price would be the race rental or 75experience for a similar price in one of their cars but it would be a shame not to put mine on the track.
I am only looking to do a few slow laps and then maybe a passenger lap in the M5 or with some willing pistonheaders there so I guess some people just cross their fingers and forget about insurance ??
Finally - is a helmet worth buying, or not bother on a tourist day ?

What level of cover are you looking for? ie do you have third party cover (through your regular insurance) and you are looking for all risks cover (ie your own car basically) or is it excluded and you are looking for full cover?
If the latter I'd be interested to know if you find anyone that wil provide it.

I'm with Admiral which specifically excludes the 'ring so I am looking for full cover and that was the quote that was given. They weren't sure if it covered damage to the track - barriers, track closure, etc, which I understand the 'ring charges and can be quite hefty if the worse happens.....

There's a link on Ben Lovejoy's site that explains how armco costs are calculated.Who was it that offered the all risks cover (ie first and third party)?
