What Seats ?

A long way down on my very long wish list at the moment is to either refurb or replace the seats.
I'd be interested to hear what others have done, and what alternative seats are an easy fit.

You could play it safe and fit Chimera seats. They're more comfortable and supportive than the S ones due to the bigger bolsters.

The only thing to note is that mine were supplied with extended risers on the front. I removed these and the runners were the same as the S ones. Can't guarantee that all Chimera seats have the same runners though.

I've no idea how tall you are but if you're 6 foot + then make sure the seat places you low enough to provide head room. This is even more important if you decide to track the car as headroom with a helmet on is a real issue.

I'm 6 foot 3, and not quite as thin as I once was, so guess I need to be careful what I choose when it comes to it.
I find the standard seats work well for me so maybe a refurb is the safe option.

I found the standard S seats really bad for my back. I tried Griff seats but they weren't much better. I eventually got hold of a pair of Cerb seats with the pump up lumbar support. Fit easily and vvery comfortable - lateral support is also much better.

I had the Cerb seats in a Chimaera 450 - one of the last models. They looked nice, but I found them harder and less supportive than the ordinary Chim/Griff seats. They seemed higher set too.

However, having had a few problems with my back (but not from car seats), I'd certainly put that at the top of the list if it was an issue.

I use a Cobra Monarco bucket seat on the driver's side. The passenger just has to make do with the original slippy slidey unsupportive seat.

What `extras` do you have to buy/consider when changing to a new seat please ?

You need some way to mount the new seat. The original seat mounts and sliders are in completely the wrong place. I simply bolted them it through the floor onto a Tower View seat brace bar. It doesn't slide any more, but I'm not getting any taller so that's fine. It's lower than the original, which helps when trying to fit under the roof with a lid on.

Im with you on this one, I bought some Cerb seats for mine but found them too wide and not very supportive. I also found they sit quite a bit higher than normal S seats which meant that I felt I had to duck down to see under the top of the screen.....(and Im not over 6ft). I would just see which seats suit you after sitting in them...... as the cerb seats obviously suit Kenny, although Kenny is a bit of a short arse so he probably likes the extra height

Hows life Kenny, we must get together sometime soon, be an excuse to get the walkie talkie from you...........give me a shout whenever you are over Dorking or Crawley way.........
