Got this from Dom a couple of days ago:

"Tvr Power now offers the latest Sagaris EPROM upgrade this give you linear power with thermal control both cooling fans operate at 88 degrees apposed to 94 degrees this elevates any detonation at high rpm using 95 octane.

Please note higher the octane better performance

Eprom £250 + VAT plug and play"

Anyone got any experience? Whatever, he's pursuaded me to have one and I pick it up tomorrow so will report my findings accordingly.

Is the map for 97 or 98 octane? If not, there is no performance benefit from using huher octane fuel.

Sounds like neither, 95 octane in the OP

Sounds like a good idea. Both my Sagaris and Tuscan used to pink at high RPM in hot weather, even when running on Tesco 99 Octane fuel.

Higher the octane, better the performance sounds like it will provide better performance the higher the octane used.

I suspect very much that can't be done with a 250 quid EPROM swap.

Again, only a guess it's either set for 95, 97 or 98 in which case there is a performance gain if the correct grade of fuel is used. If it's less than the EPROM Octane, it will probably pink its nuts off.

If we use 100+ octane fuel will we get better performance, er no. I think not........

So, "higher the octane better performance" very misleading methinks.

Seems expensive for what it is to me. 300 notes plus you need to be able to reach/remove/replace the ECU in the first place smile

To be fair 300 notes is cheap .. do you think it takes 5 mins on an open road to develop ECU chips?

I thought it cheap too - especially considering the limited number of oppurtunities to get returns. Need to speak with Power and find out if this is a performance EPROM or just for the fans.

seems a good idea to have both cooling fans come on at 88'c regardless of weather or not it creates more power/smoother delivery, however that would be a bonus. im having my car fitted with it as i had overheating issues previously which done my head in

Guess it depends on whether the benefits are just fans/running temp and pinking or if there are really any performance gains. In other words I'd like to see RR evidence.

Hope its everything you expect Jappo - must admit, I'd be happy to pay that kind of money just to swap the fan trip!

My car was the guinea pig for this, was on the rollers tuesday and JR did the map, again mainly cos the car was pinking at high revs.

Your car went on after mine jappo.

If your expecting anymore power from this forget it the Sag map is pretty good from what i understand, although it does feel smooth on cold start up and the fans cutting in a touch earlier will help

Could someone please clarrify a couple of things for me please?

There is the POD ECU/Controller which controls the LCD display, revs & speed dials and possibly switchgear (heater, a/c, lights?)? It reads the sensors around the engine (temps & pressures), but doesnt manage the engine.

There is an Engine ECU, which runs the engine using a map. What sensors does it use?

Which unit controls the fans? I thought this might be the POD ECU seeing as it has access to the water temps? If its the Engine ECU, do the Engine and POD share the sensors?

Thanks.

1st para; correct

2nd para; not the ones that you see on the pod

3rd para; The engine ECU,not the POD, they have there own sensors (left-ECU; right-POD)

Hope this helps. G

Anyone confirm the RR results of the smoothing of power when the EPROM (Electronic Programmable Read Only Memory)is fitted.

What do you need to know?

I dont really know what an eprom is, an ecu chip? Will this new fan control etc be ok on a 2005 T350?I really want a manual override switch for my fans which would be much less expensive, but people keep muttering about damaging the ecu.Is this really likely? If so then presumably the intermittant poor connection to fan 2 would have the same effect on the ecu? Regards Technophobe!!rolleyes

i had the chip fitted on the 28th. went to oulton park yesterday, and yes alot smoother deliverery - but no more power, but how can you tell?. the car was not slow in first place. the fans now kick in at 88 so something has changed .there were afew fast sags there . we all had a great day , but i was no faster than the others, so if you can enjoy the stanard sag !! enjoy regads T

OK - here's my verdict. Did 100 miles or so back from Cov to Hemel. The car is very notably smoother throughout the rev range but partcularly in the lower/mid registers (from 2K up to 5K) and I felt there was more mid-range tractability. On the way back I got stuck in a horrific traffic jam and was in stop/start crap for an hour. Previously the car would have fluffed quite a lot after idling periods as it cleared its throat to move off, necessitating a lot of throttle feathering, it would also be fairly erratic and lumpy during hot idle. Today, not a bit of it, no fluffs, no throat clearing and a constant 89-90 degrees of smooth delivery.

Rarely have I spent 250 quid on a car and got this much value. If you've got a Sag, and a spare 250 notes, do it.

My 2 cents.

Genuine 320 bhp at the rear wheels, our EPROM chip will NOT offer more power but you will be able to drive more smoothly which offers better performance (GUARANTEED) or your money back
