I have found a Car I am quite fancying... the next stop now for me is to get it inspected.. Whom is reccomended / offers this sort of service, I would prefer a well known Porsche specialist, rather than a sotck RAC / AA inspection.

Anyone have any reccmendations ?
Will my local OPC assist?

Thanks

It is only about £125 for a full OPC check over & it is well worth spending the money, don't buy without one. What's the potential new toy ??

You will have to take the car to your local OPC. They will then carry out an 80 point inspection for around £100, its money well spent, they go over the car with a fine tooth combe. I recently had mine done and the type of detail they go into is "The ash tray bulb is not working"

The AA and RAC wanted around £250 for the same service and they arent experts on Porsche.

OPC are good but the problem arises with their schedule. With any luck they will see the car immediately..I have had it suggested to me that I bring the car to them in 3 weeks and 6 weeks on another occasion...not much use when you are keen to buy a new car. Don't touch RAC/AA I would go to a decent specialist myself.

No, was a basalt black one, but just been for another look round, and noticing things I shouldnt

the keyfob is totally worn down, the porsche badge is practially white!!

and when I stick the indicators on, the whole steering column moves with the stalk :|

also, dont all porkers have remote boot release? or was just the Cab i had ?

Think its time to look elsewhere..

I would take it to an OPC, because it can then be classed officially as an approved used Porsche. The same OPC can then sell you an official 12 month Porsche warranty, exactly as you'd get if you bought it from an OPC. So you get an approved used Porsche with dealer warranty except you don't pay OPC prices.

If OPC can't fit you in, my tech Andy Fearns may be able to help.

I put a post up for him in Porsche classifieds under parts, as he was keen on offering inspections to Porsche PHers. Get his number there if you need it.

Cheers
Dom
PS I checked and he is familiar with GT3s (he is ex Autofarm). Ballpark probs are that they can suffer from clutch and gearbox problems, apparently. So if inspected by the AA, make sure they check the clutch properly.

jamie the remote boot release from the keyfob was introduced with the facelift model late 2001...All of the GT3 you are looking at are pre-facelift,so you will not find this feature on the cars.
Looking at the drivers sill where the releases are, they will be of the earlier cable type rather than the newer electric releases you have come to know.
Still buying a GT3 is not about how the luggage compartment opens surely??

yeah, noticed the release things were levers, and not push buttons like the cab was..

Bah, its gonan be a daily driver, just fancy a GT3 for the sound residuals, and the look / rawness.

Tho IF a nice C4 Aero comes around, i may be tempted to spend the diff £20k elsewhere.

thnx for the advice chaps. will post info with what I sort eventually.

the tVr is tugging the eart strings atm, it can do no wrong now its summer again, I rememeber now WHY i kept it so long
