525d (2004) HID conversion
Discussion
Hi,
Can someone help me with this:
I just installed an HID conversion kit for my 525d. When I fire them up, they ignite correctly, but after a few seconds the computer thinks my headlights have both blown (I guess because of the fact that the HID's only use 35W instead of the normal 50W).
Is there a switch anywhere (or a different way) where I can tell the computer that the 70W being drawn from the HID's is correct?
Thanks in advance,
PB

You need to use an extra filter wire between the ballast and the car with a resiter in it to fool the check control into thinking the headlights are present. They are usually supplied with HID kits if the car requires it.
Interesting when one of my bulbs died in the 530, even though I was using the extra wire it still flashed up to tell me it had failed.
