Received a NIP in the post from Bedfordshire BiB, failing to stop at a red light. It was addressed to somebody I've never heard of with a car that has never been at my address.
What's the best thing to do with it? chuck in the bin?

Whilst you are under no obligation to respond to the notice (or indeed open it wink), you might want to know if someone had registered a vehicle at your address. That would mean contact with the scammers..

If that's what you choose to do, wait until at least 14 days have passed before doing so, such that an amended NIP cannot be served - just in case the scammers have dropped an admin clanger and it transpires that you were in fact the alleged offender..wink

If it wasn't addressed to you, why not just write "not known at address" and put it back into the post box rather than opening someone elses mail?

had my address but you could not see the addressee name in the envelope window, and it did say on the envelope in big letters OPEN IMMEDIATELY.
Could not have been me as I've not been to Luton for 5 years. I will bin it and wait to see if another arrives.

If they turn up at your door, you can always say what letter ? Just because they posted it does not mean it arrived ... i think THAT has been discussed on here before.

Perhaps they should check the electoral role.
