It's a TVR special based on a Girling unit fitted to Hillman Imps and the Lotus Cortina. You can fit a service kit for about £9 (Lucas/Girling part number SP2102) without removing the cylinder and it may prolong its life for a bit although the internals are usually scored and it will leak again.

There was a post on here a few months ago about a replacement being available on-line from a race & rally supplier, but I can't remember who. A search might bring it up.

Rally Design (www.raldes.co.uk) will match the cylinder with the girling or wilwood replacement (of same bore) at about 24 quid plus VAT but the union fitting will be wrong - TVR used the next fitting size up. I got rally design to make up a length of braided pipe inc fittings for about a tenner plus VAT, that replaced the original pipe. I guess once you have the cylinder you could get the original fitting cut off and replaced with the correct one, or get a new bit of copper pipe made up locally for a few quid.

Ebay supppliers offer a replacement cylinder for about 15 quid but obviously won't be girling genuine stuff (probably).

If you need advice on getting the pedals out do a search, we discussed it on here a few months back. Any probs or you can't find the info, post up here I'm HTH.

ETA: If you are taking the pedals out look at the brake m/cyl too, they rust!

Dream Machines are fitting a new one for me next week as Rockingham was the final straw for the master cylinder. It still survived 400 odd miles with half pressure and, ultimatley, virtually no fluid left.

They have them in stock but I don't know true prices but think about £60 + fitting. They did a temporary top up and bleed for me while I waited and that has kept me going fine since then.

Dulfords replaced mine a few months ago for around the same price.

Had mine done at Fernhurst recently. I think the cylinder was about £60 for the correct part. As someone has already said, I don't think its worth changing the seals unless you are really strapped for cash or can't get the part. If the cylinder is scored it probably won't last long with the new seals.
