Drop the cap from the Header Tank.

Checking water level this morning and dropped the cap which went down the side of the header tank, down behind the radiator and got lodged under the radiator behing the bottom hose. Took ages and lots of fiddling and straining to get it back out. Ended up getting it with a piece of coat hanger wire.

I did the same with the PAS oil cap, it got stuck in the chassis somehow.
Got some cling film with a rubberband over it and drove off to get a new one (can't remember what it was now but looked it up on PH and think it was VW).

On the next street there are some speedbumps and as I drove over them I heard the cap fall out.
Got out of the car quick and retrieved it.

Lucky escape.

Quite a good one not to do is top up the oil and leave the filler cap on the rocker cover. It falls onto the manifold and produces a quite extraordinary amount of thick white smoke.

Mine has a big crack through it and was thinking of replacing it at some point, but hadn't thought of just removing it. thumbup

Don't over tighten your Stepper Motor after cleaning it. When it breaks, and it is very easy to break it, the threaded end gets stuck in the Plenum Chamber - took me an entire weekend to get all the bits out.
