The seat will not move fore or aft. Had a good look - best I could, there's not much room is there? - tried WD40, pushing, shoving and cursing but it won't move. Can't even see how I can get the seat out frown

Maybe a previous owner had removed the seat runners and bolted the seat to the floor in order to improve headroom?

Had a good look under the seat - now applying to be a part time contortionist after doing so - and looked as if the runners were still in place. Will have another look when I return from my hols in two weeks.

I recall selling my Mother in laws elderly Citroen AX where the seat had been in the same position for years.
Took the combined efforts of the Wife and me pushing and pulling plus lots of WD 40 to free it.
If its really jammed on the Chim I would remove the seat, (4 nuts under the floor) and give the runners a good soak in WD 40. Use a hammer if necessary to lightly tap the runners back and forth.
And I do mean lightly, you don't want to break the seat base
