Fernhurst TVR and a lesson learned!
Discussion
Friday morning travelling down to Goodwood - about halfway into my journey going through Midhurst I noticed a clicking sound accompanied by a distinct bump from the back of the car, thought it must be a stone caught in the tread.
Stopped to have a look and there's a lump of metal embbeded in one of rear tyres.
Decided that that the best option was to drive on carefully to Fernhurst as it was closer than going home and see if Fernhurst could assist me.
Guys at Fernhurst were fantastic, they had 2 rear tyres (Toyo Proxie T1Rs)in stock and they would run them up to a local tyre fitter for me. Not too horrendously priced either.
Oh cr*p I've forgotten the key for the locking wheel nuts.
One taxi ride home and back again to pick up said key and it's up to the tyre fitters with one of the guys from Fernies with the tyres in the boot of his car. Tyre fitter pulled a bolt 2 inches long out of the old tyre, god knows how it ever got into my tyre it must have been sat on the road at just the right angle, almost had to be placed there.
It wasn't there at the starty of my journey as I'd check all the tyres and pressures before leaving.
Finally back on the road about 3 hours delayed.
Still trying to bed the Toyo's in - they certainly feel a lot more squirmy than the Bridgestones, hopefully that will pass once I can get them warmed up a few times. Any tips for getting them bedded in quickly?
Probably be looking for some new fronts as well - does anyone know if there are any Toyos in the 15 inch size as I'd prefer to have the same pattern all round.

T1Rs are only available as 'V' rated in 15" dia. I OK'd it with my insurers and fitted T1Rs in size 205/55 R15 88V Rim-protection. Cost £97 the pair from www.mytyres.co.uk. I'm very pleased with them, but when I had So3s on the front and T1Rs on the back that handling was down right scary. Was in a bit of a rush to get my tyre's changed for a sunny weekend run a few months back after i found a nail in a worn set of rear Bridgestone's. Went to Plume and although being very sceptical about them, took a pair of Hankook (made by Mitchelin i believe) tyres.
So far so good - great traction in the dry and no issues on part throttle in the wet either. May be wortyh a try and they were about £75 each fitted.
