Do you think that Haymarket could have enough money, people in right places etc to launch their own motoring channel, maybe buyout MotorsTV.

Imagine the quality of motoring TV we could get, and then maybe they could put in a bid for F1 coverage post 2008 when ITV's current agreement ends (and hopefully is not renewed)

How about it ... surely they have enough contacts in high places smile

What?!?!?! You mean imagine the commercial leverage Haymarket could yeild whilst delievering sterile content?

Take Autosport, to be fair the race reporting is pretty good but come on when was the last time they ever wrote anything that really got to the guts of things?

The situation is terrible at McLaren yet they never question how Ron has lost control of his drivers. BTCC, Chilton has driven terrible all year yet they never ask Vauxhall why or if he could loose his seat. What about Enge in ALMS/FIA GT loosing his drive - where was the reporting there? What about WRC and the fact Subaru were blaming the Michelin advantage for their prior seasons poor performance and yet now they are all on Pirelli Subaru are still terrible - any reporting? Of course not..

Heseltine didnt get rich by giving all his pocket to Ecclestone!

Motoring and motor sports mags are only a very small part of Haymarket so most unlikely

Enge lost his drive because Maranello got pissed of with him crashing A: the Ferrari he was in and B: other Ferraris in the same race race.

Not that I'm a fan of their decision, but that's why.

Yeah that was ALMS tho - then he drove a Pirelli backed Ferrari in Spa 24hrs about a week later. I agree with what you say but you didn't read much about the issue in Autosport did you??!

Well, i live out in the US these days, so I don't read the mag at all, and only really rely on the website for F1 news. The paddock (http://www.the-paddock.net/) is much better for sportcar racing.

I still like Enge because he's the only driver I can think of who failed a random drug test for weed, and he was a nice bloke at the ALMS race at Mid Ohio.
