I have an intermittant starting fault that is becoming a real nuisance. The car has always started instantly - except on a few occasions when I turn it on - all the ingnition lights come on, the fuel pump runs, I can hear the relays operating but it won't turnover. So far the solution has been to walk away and return anything between 20 minutes and 2 hours later and then it has started first button as normal. I don't think it is the wiring between the motor and chassis but am a little suspicious of the solenoid on the motor. It would be good to hear from anyone who has expereiced a similar form of torture. It's a 97 4.0HC.

TADTS

Have a search for this, as it is an all too common fault. AFAIK, it is linked to the cable supplying power to the starter motor. ACT sell a relay and cable which solve this problem.

Do a search for 'hot start problem' and then fit David Beers kit. It sorted mine and countless others.

Thank you very much, that sounds remarkably like my problem. I have been onto Mr Beer at Modwise and the kit is on its way.
