I'm in Nottingham for Tues-Thurs this week at a conference at Uni of Nott. On Tuesday night, myself and some colleagues would like to go into the city and have something to eat and a few beers. An Indian/Thai/Chinese etc would be favourite, plus a couple of decent pubs for ale and conversation.

Can anyone recommend owt?

The Curry Lounge on Parliment street is really good as is 4560miles from Delei on maid marion way, for some good english/european food which is made useing local produce try the Larder on goose gate, hockley.

4560miles from Delhi is very good and the service is excellent and it's very relaxed and used to large groups (without being rowdy).. There's also a couple more asian restaurants on/near Maid Marion Way that are very good.. If you don't already know, Maid Marion Way is really central and from there you would be able to go to any number of establishments, should you wish before or after the meal, for 'beverages'.. China China is also a good one. Very impressive albeit abit pricey..

Nottingham has a vast array of really good restaurants of every sort... Depends how formal or relaxed you want it to be....

P.S: You will be able to get a good pint in the Bell Inn in the Market Square or down near the castle at The Trip To Jerusalem.. Proper Ale and all that.. Think Bell Inn has old time jazz on one of the weekday nights and that place also has some affiliation with Nottm Uni I believe.. Good old fashioned pubs...

Ahh, You need to go there when it's cocktail happy hour! Much cheaper!

It is expensive there. A little bit bling too, but nice for a change.

I second 4550 Miles From Delhi for food and the Bell for a pint. Two of my favourite places when I go into town.

You could try Memsaab too.

Scene of the infamous 'Chris Tarrant' incident...

In the end we got fed at the Uni but then got a couple of cabs into town. Went to the Trip and had several pints of "old Trip" which was excellent. Then went to the Bell and had several pints of Speckled Hen. Enjoyed both pubs immensely.

Cheers
