A few questions about coming back to TVR (Griff)
Discussion
Well after a few years away I am seriously thinking about coming back to a TVR as my daily driver instead of my SL but I have a few questions. I have two cerbera's and then two Chimaera's up until about 2002 but wanted to try out Porsche's and Ferrari's.
So my questions are as follows :
Did many griff's come with Air con as I have seen threads on here about air con but not found one for sale with it yet ?
My last chim 500 had issues with getting very hot in traffic it never overheated but I always felt it got a bit close for comfort has there been any improvements / aftermarket kits designed to solve this ?
Anything I should look out for or modifications that should have been done ?
Many thanks
Phib

I would suggest that aircon negates the purpose of an open topped British sports car.Several have this but I suspect most owners would prefer to give it a miss..phib said:

Contact David Beer via his profile. His easy to apply mods will solve any overheating worries you may have. A well maintained cooling system on any TVR shouldn't let you down though.hi ,i have a 98 griff 500 using it every day,16000miles a year ,now has over 80000 miles on clock ,never had any probs, confirming my belief that a well used yet highley maintained vehichle(mine serviced every 4000miles)realy doesnt cost much,to keep on top of ..i would be more concerned of chassis ,and engine condition rather than if it has air con,i have never considerd it as a must have option in any soft top car ...be brave get your top off .hope you do get a griff, you wont regret it ..but make sure you buy a good one,,,theirs a good few dogs out their .dont get bit.
Thanks for the replys so far guys, I am pretty sure I know what to look for i.e. chassis and engine so that realy isnt a worry to be honest but thanks.
Re the air con for me its a must whilst I had the Chimaeras I had so many work days where either I had a full boot and so no where to put the roof or was doing shortish journey eher I didnt have time to take off the roof. These allways seemed to be on hot days when I was in a suit ...typical !!
I had my first chimaera re fitted with air con by the factory ( I seriously doubt they would do this anymoere) and it was about 4k a time back when the cars were current. The second one had it and it was a godsend to the extent that I wouldnt buy one without it.
Don't get me wrong most of the time come winter or summer the roof will be off but I just need to have the option.
Many thanks

hi ,their are plenty of after market companys available to fit air con ,perhaps that would be the way to go.not sure of cost but a quick search should source some rough guide as to cost, and it would open up a much greater choice of griff, buy the one you want and get ac fitted eleswhere
