Is it just me or do we really miss Eddie 'six wigs' Jordans team in the paddock, seams to me like they were the only guys who liked to have fun at the track.

I think Eddie had the good sense to pull out when F1 was still interesting. I find it embarrassing now.

Yes, it was good that they enjoyed the racing on a relative shoestring and yet could still be competitive, when was the last time a recently formed small team took poles and wins?

Perhaps Eddie realised that their performance dip was not going to be reversed and got out with a little bit of pride left.

But that whole rock band thing I could have done without - I'm still scarred by the sight of Damon Hill on guitar as EJ battered away at the drums...

Jordan wasn't a recently formed team when it did, it's first win was in 1998, 7 years after first entering F1.

In terms of recent years Sauber was the most impressive recently formed team, in their debut year of 1993. First Grand Prix in South Africa, Lehto 6th on the grid finished 5th. They were always able to be in the top 5-8 in qualifying and picked up good points when they finished.

As a long term Jordan fan its great to see its not just me that misses them. Spa in 98 was one of the greatest days to be an Irish motorsport fan and I'll never forget it.

However to put that 7 years in context - how many other teams that have been formed from nothing since 1991 have won a race in F1?

By my memory only Jordan, Stewart and BAR/Honda. Both the latter were full works efforts by the time they won. And both have won only once.

Jordan did bloody well to score three wins over their history.

Rose tints possibly? If you were talking about the 70's or 80's then maybe, but Im not sure the late 90's etc had any more action than now did it, certainly no more overtaking and a lot of the seasons were far more processional / predictable than this year for example?
