Tax disc rate...
Discussion
I remember seeing some discussinos under the Tuscan forum about this and someone getting th 180 quid rate rather than two hundred and something.
I've never seen an official Co2 rating for the cerb so what's the score? Would hate the bastards to get more out of me than strictly necessary

I almost cry every time this topic comes up on here.
200 quid.
I'd love if I could get away with paying anything even remotely close to 200 quid for the road tax on mine.

Car tax is based on a graduated VED scheme from which TVR are exempt.
It's always my favourite topic of conversation at my local post office ... normally along the lines of:
PO: You car has been registered incorrectly with the DVLA.
Me: No it hasn't.
PO: Yes it has. Your tax class should be PC or DC. Is it a diesel?
Me: No.
PO: Is it a van?
Me: No.
PO: But if it has 2 seats and a 4 litre engine it must be a van.
Me: <roll eyes, and explain graudated VED scheme to post office official>
PO: But it must be a van then. Who are TVR? I'll have to charge you £180.
Me: That's fine.
PO: And you need to contact the DVLA to get that corrected.
Me: OK
I audit new car registrations and tax discs as part of my job.
I now renew my car tax on-line.

Mind you, pensioners get a better deal in Potatoland. Shame you'll be too croaked to get in out of the Cerb by then. (Start saving for the old Massey Fergusson Twackter)

then again, havent you seen the whole host of loopholes in there?
hearse eur78 (a bit of conversion work on the helmet hole required)
taxi eur72
vehicles which are used exclusively for mountain and cave rescue purposes: exempt from tax
(i.e. you pay the company registration fee to create a private mountain rescue company, and if ever queried, the reason you're speeding is youre on your way up the wicklow mountains to rescue (your friend who is a signed up member for your service) who'se stuck up the wicklow mountains in a pub and needs rescuing
ambulance: exempt from tax
doesnt specify it has to be a state owned one, again, private ambulance, first aid kit inside helps the case here haha
