Refit centre cap ?

Hello ,

New to this forum and used the search function I could not find anything on how to refit the centre caps to the wheels. I bought my S3 in London and drove it back to Holland in June. It is now RDW / APK and has dutch license plates. It's in general very good condition and only needs some minor (cosmetic) improvements. When replacing the tyres with Turanza ER300 the centre caps where knocked out and from 1 of the caps even the metal insert came loose.
Questions :
1> How to re-fit the metal insert in the cap without damaging it.

2> How to refit the centre cap ? The material has become fairly hard and fitting them from the outside looks impossible. Do you fit them back from the inside when the wheel is not fitted yet ?

I am pretty sure they fit from the inside.

You can get them in from outside with difficulty, but speaking from experience you wreck the finish on the wheel

Take the wheel off, it clips in very easily from inside.

Any ideas on question nr 1 ? Its the TVR logo not going back in the plastic cap

No idea about Q1 - but the centre caps do come up on ebay now and again - I saw some not long ago but just searched and can't find them.

I found these but its another type and I need 50 mm diameter. I will watch Ebay anyway

How many do you need ?

also look out for the colour... I bought a pair on ebay recently and one was a black background and the other was a dark purple (same as my existing) its not obvious at first but the difference can be seen.

Hi Kevin,

I dented 1 metal insert a bit when loosing temper pushing it in the plastic part. If you could send me your dark purple spare I would be more than happy

I have the following which you are welcome to choose from and I will post to you...

one perfect condition (new) black centre
or
one dented and scratched purple centre and its black plastic mounting (sorry but thats the one I replaced when I bought the pair...)

if your existing centre is is reasonable condition, you just need to glue it back into the plastic centre and refit from the inside with the wheel off as advised above...
