Number plate sizes

Hi just wondering if anybody knows what size the area is that you attach the front number plate to?

I am just about to order my plate and dont want it too small/big

I am thinking slightly smaller than normal as i only have 5 characters but still legal

ps before anyone says - I would go and check but the car is over at my parents at the mo keeping warm under cover!

Hi,

You can fit normal size number plates to the front although the do over hang at the sides a bit.

When I got mine made up I was told that they couldn't make legal number plates that were not the standard size.

They look fine now they are fitted.

I fitted what is approx 80% normal size plate/characters on the front from fancyplates.com - looks great and I'll try and post a pic - not been pulled as yet!

That is what i was trying to avoid - the overhang. A slightly shorter plate would achieve this without being illegal

Was going to order from fancyplates as that is where i have previously got them from but not sure what size so as to reduce the overhang, but not to see the mounting plate behind.

Where about in S yorks are you pm me if you fancy a run out as i am only in sheffield

I have a smaller front plate made by fancyplates, will measure it later.

it's 8cm by 43 cm, which as you can see fit's the plate area perfectly on my car.
