I am saddened and angry to feel that I must write this Post as a fellow member advertised on this forum Sunday 8th July for help to find 2.8i S1 manifolds.I replied to this and after several emails agreed to sell this person a pair for a very reasonal price for such a rare item (his words) and after seeing his job on his profile said to send the payment on receiving the items.As you can guess NO Payment and NO Answer to several emails.I just goes to show even with such information WHO can YOU TRUST.

Why not contact his employer with the info if you have exhausted all other ways of attempting to contact him. I am sure that they would be interested if he isn't paying a lawfull debt. That is of course if he does what he says he does. You could put anything down, but why would you want to put down what he has if it isn't true i don't know.
I asked him earlier:
"Does this mean that you are going to pay my mate the money you promised him for the exhaust manifolds he sent you, and which he is fed up asking you for?
Or are you trousering the lot and hoping he forgets?"

Thats very sad, i take the view that i trust everyone until i learn differently & generally i am right. However when you find someone like this it makes your blood boil.
I treat TVR's as a club & if i can help someone then i will, i have given parts away in the past rather than sell them as i want to keep cars on the road & running. When i see these situation, i get so tempted to stick on a bid of 100,000 and wait for him to try & collect it from me. it would screw up his ebay sale anyway.

I think he's optimistic about his price £5500 reserve for a car that runs iffy. There are some very nice cars on PH for that money. Sorry to hear this Dave and it's unfortunate that, whilst most TVR owners are good people, ownership does not guarantee integrity of character.
I'm tempted to buy the car and knock the price of the manifolds off the price, but then, what else on the car has he ripped off.

as I said in my email, if you are absolutely sure hes scamming you (and i still hope its a genuine error on his behalf) then you should report him to ebay - as he is selling an item which includes a part which belongs to you until he has paid for it, and if he is what he says he is then you should also name and shame him to his employer.
I think we could collectively bid his item up into the millions to mess him about, but I guess ebay would be unhappy with all involved... still I would be happy to be a bidder...

I have just read through the other thread. The other person's job measn that his integrity must be maintained (from his perspective) as any criminal action (or even a strong suggestion of dishonesty) would certainly impact him. You must ensure you have records of all your communications (successful or attempts). I would hope that this is a case of some type of misundertsanding rather than a deliberate attempt at obtaining goods by dubious means. Police Forces have Units called 'Professional Standards Unit' in them. They will investigate allegations of suspected dishonesty. However, I would be very surprised that anyone in that type of job would 'publicaly' do anything wrong. It may be the chap has been ill for a while or whatever, and therefore I would suggest repeating your efforts to contact him.
Ebay also has an investigative capability, but you can often find out about the seller by clicking on the properties options. That is partly how I found a chap was using another's identity when trying to sell a Cerbie. Sadly, ebay security didn't view it as serious when he backed out of the deal, or when I told them about the false id.

FYI: Emails are contractual and legally binding, if you have copies of his emails and he states in them that he agrees to pay on receipt then take them to the police as his behaviour constitutes theft. Quote from an online law thingummy.

With a little detective work and looking on the BT online directory enquiries I have found the telephone number and address of a guy whose name and town matches the profiles in ebay and PH. Obviously I will not post it here but will send db800 a private message.
It may not be the same guy but it's worth a call.
I hope that this is all just a misunderstanding and that it can be cleared up easily.

With a little more detective work I deduced that as he sent him the manifolds then he already has his address, phone number would certainly come in handy if he doesn't have it.It may not be the same guy but it's worth a call.

Thats me i'm afraid, guilty as charged. I have just moved address, I am in the middle of nowhere (not even a pub within 3 miles) and having a few troubles getting internet set up.
Unfortunately I can only access this and a couple of other sites from work (where i'm currently situated), not my msn/ hotmail account or ebay which all of DB800 contact details are located on.
If you would not mind David, could you forward your details to my work email address and I will sort out the agreed amounts.
If you are prepared to wait my internet will be up and running within the next few weeks (so I am told) and I can sort it out then.
