I,m having a bit of a clunky gear change with my 1999 S type and have been told that it could be either a drive coupling on the prop or maybe the clutch. Has anyone had similar problems? If it is the clutch is there any place out there other than main dealer where you can get one from. Many Thanks

Cobra if you have a problem with a Jaguar, just post it in the Jaguar forum. Posting the same message in 3 forums is a bit overkill...smile

Hi Trooper, pardon my bad forum etiquette. It was a post written by a colleague on my login. I just figured a wider audience could be reached doing it that way. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Check that the clutch actually disengages properly. Bleed if necessary.

If that does not fix you need to check the clutch cover and plate, sometimes the adjuster overadjusts.

Once clutch is fixed then personally I would drain the oil and fill with Esso LT71141 oil.

If the synchros have gone you can't rebuild a G221 and they are very expensive to buy new....
