205 Gti engine specialist in Portsmouth/Hants?

Hi,

My Dad is looking for a 205Gti 1.9 engine specialist as the engine is using a lot of oil at the moment. Anyone know anywhere trustworthy in Portsmouth/Hants? He has had some hefty quotes so far...

sorry im not sure about that area but have you thought of rebuilding engine your self? it really isnt that hard trust me. I once had mine rebuilt by some one else (i was to lazy at the time) cost me 700 quid but was well worth it or a lot of places will charge around a grand for a unit off the shelf plus take your old engine. or just buy a good second hand one but they are hard to find. hope this helps any more questions just ask.

I have 205 engine iv just replaced with a GTI6 if your interested, only done 1 trackday since rebuild!, im in hampshire also.

Could be something as simple as valve stem seals. Any garage would be able to put that right.

What are the symptoms (other than oil use)?

Try Miles Horne, (Pug Racing)
He's a bit nearer to Southampton/New Forest.
He converted my GTI1.9 to Mi16 a few years back. Has a very good reputation on 205GTIdrivers.
