Driving Skills
Discussion
I've realised recently that I've taken my Cerb about as far as most can (R888s, Protech double adjustables and uprated springs, rose jointed drop links, uprated front ARB, poly bushing, big brakes, full alignment etc etc), and its time to stop spending money on it and instead improve my driving and start enjoying the fruits from all this hard work I've put in over the last year or so.
I've always considered myself to be a fairly decent driver, in that I have never crashed and always push as far as I feel comfortable with. With the Cerb though, the cars limits have always been way beyond mine, so I'd like to learn how to tame it. I've watched some of BossCerbs amazing youtube vids and it amazes me what can be done with a good Cerb if you really know how to drive it. So, basically, can anyone recommed a good course to go on where I can take the Cerb and learn things like power oversteer, heel and toe and maybe even left foot braking?

I have been looking at doing a 'car limits' course - which is run by Andy Walsh at North Weald Airfield. It comes highly recommended from a couple of friends and might be just what you're looking for.
I don't know Andy well, but did meet him in a bar in France after Le Mans - seems like a good guy and certainly comes with some pedigree by all accounts!
www.carlimits.com
There is often an advertising window on the PH website.
If you go before I do, let me know how you get on and I will do the same :-). OR perhaps we could get four Cerbs together and book a date. I already have another Cerb driver who wants to do it.

www.driverdp.com held at Prodrive in Kenilworth. I have just done a day here and was really good. £295 with excellent tuition. See website for details.
I'm looking at organising an Advanced Driving day at Snetterton next spring, in conjunction with MotorsprtVision if that's of any interest.
Something like this, but like Monday's track day, TVRs only:

Advanced Track Driving Course
Snetterton Full Circuit
If you want an intensive course, packed with one to one tuition and hosted by some of the best instructors in the UK - then look no further.
Anyone can drive fast in a straight line, but driving quickly and effectively whilst keeping a car balanced and under complete control requires a great deal of skill. Any successful race driver or experienced trackday driver will tell you that training and practice is the only way to obtain that skill - driving safely at speed comes naturally for very few of us.
MotorSport Vision's Advanced Track Driving Course will not only make you a faster and more confident driver, but it will also save you money - driving with smoothness and mechanical sympathy will drastically reduce the wear and tear on your vehicle.
The course is tailored to each individual. If you have never been on track before we’ll teach you the basics covering everything you’ll need to know to become a competent track driver. If your trying to find those extra few seconds a lap for your next race, we’ll show you where to find it.
Here is a brief list of some of the skills you will learn on the day:
The Basics - Seating position, Hand position, Correct use of steering wheel, Gear change/clutch use, Heal & toe, Correct use of throttle and brake
Vehicle Dynamics - Weight transfer, Front and rear wheel drive techniques, Controlling understeer and oversteer, Left foot braking and Cadence braking
Circuit Driving Techniques - Lines and car positioning, Track etiquette and Observation skills
Car preparation - Mechanical sympathy
The day includes:
·Teas / coffees and bacon roll on arrival
·Lunch with instructors
·1 ½ hours one to one tuition in our VX220 Turbo’s
·1 ½ hours advanced driving lessons in the classroom
·1 ½ hours of one to one tuition in your own car
·1 ½ hours of unlimited lapping in your own car
Let us help you find the ability you never knew you had.

I'm booked on a ridedrive course next week and ahve a stint a Bruntingthorpe as part of it, but also 8 hours on the road which really appeals...also i get a guaranteed 25% of my insurance renewal which at 1100 quid should pay for the course itself!

Just hope i don't ragg my tyres completely on the airfield....

I got money off my insurance too (through adrianflux) dont think it was anywhere near the quoted 20% though.http://www.ridedrive.co.uk/adrianflux.htm

I ended up replacing my rear tires after some 'fun' on the airfield. I wanted to know what would happen if I was stamped on the loud peddle from standstill....result = 60 foot pair of 11's
