Hi all
Having a real job bleeding rad ... Was in bits for a few weeks .. Could the thermostat be stuck shut?

If so I assume its a sealed unit - does anybody make a non sealed unit alternative?

Any ideas?

If the thermostat is stuck open you should still be able to bleed it, are you bleeding the system correctly using the bleed screws on the 2 top coolant rails?

Nah ... stuck open would be fine I reckon its stuck shut ?

she fires first time ... all pipes get hot .. water pipe to
bottom of rad warms ... top pipe of rad cold ..
pipes tother side of thermostat housing hot .. water rails hot

left lid off coolant tank and lots of air bubbling out ...

but gets to stage of fans cutting in on cold rad and temp is getting very hot.

could it be air lock or could it be thermostat?

... got oil cooler to replace first anyhow ...

Get a new stat anyway, £20 from a motor factors.

Sounds like you have an airlock to me. Could be a gunked up bleed within the stat causing traped air in the stat and thus not letting it warm up due to there being no coolant there.
