Fixing a radar detector permanently

Hi I just picked up my Escort Passport 8500 and was wondering how ugly its going to look plugged into the lighters in the door. Has anyone hard wired theirs. I heard there are lots of wires under the dash to fix it and make it look clean and tidy.
If possible I want to fix some sort of plug to the wire so I can use the radar in the other car as well. Or remoting another lighter plug in discrete place.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I hard wired my V1 last week. Just took a feed from the acces. switch of the radio and ran the wire up the door seal, looks neat and tidy. I also undid the screws that hole the front part of the passenger side roof on and ran it under there to the V1.

This shouldn't be a problem. Just buy a extra fag lighter socket (£5) and then wire it off the igntion or stereo. It only needs an ignition live and an earth. Then you can plug it in behind the stereo and the lead can pop out where ever you want. See the links below for an idea of installing.

Mine are wired through the overhead light. They are attached on a custom bracket that is bolted together with the rear view mirror, so the detector sits just above the mirror, next to the mirror's arm.

My K40 is mounted in the radio pod above the stereo with remote pick ups in the front and rear. It is wired into to the radio circuit

Hey many thanks guys. I need one of these installed real quick, I have been headlight flashed by the cops a few times ripping up the local streets. So my nine lifes are due to run out.
