I've tried to get it in Oz too. It's too hard...I now use Castrol R synthetic 10w/60, as it's what Michelotto use in the 360 N-GT anyway.

They also don't use shell transaxle 75w/90 gear oil either. Agip rotra LSX is the choice there.

I've found shell to be quite unhelpful over the years.

I have used Castrol RS 10w-60, but cannot seem to get it anymore, they have changed it to 0w-40 like Mobile 1. The castrol 10w-60 was great oil. The best I have used. The 0w-40 is to thin. can you still get 10w-60 then ?? Where ???

It's in plentiful supply in Oz. It's got a red label, but otherwise the 5 litre cans look identical to the other viscosities of which there are 2 or 3 available.

Go to a Castrol website, is best.

I have contacted Castrol and they have given me a suplliers name close to where I live. Greta thanks for you help. The 0w-40 is thinner according to Castrol and they have recommended 10w-60.

Justin,

I also use Shell 0-W40 for a while and the oil consumption of the engine increased enormously! It seems to be too thin! Lately I have encountered to low oil temperatures at my 348. Instead of 100 Celsius (middle of gauge) I only get half reading despite warm engine. Could be the thin oil the cause for the low oil temperature or is it something with the sender or mass connection?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jens,

As I said in the Ferraichat.com thread. Please Read.
I would not worry bout it too much. You only have a problem if the temperature rises high. There is a electrical fan on the oil cooler that will reduce the oil temperature if it goes to high. I undersatnd it cuts in above 100 degrees C. I must say I have never seen my fan cut in on my F348 spider. My temperature is around 80 to 100 degrees c when driven hard.
