Just incase anyone gets caught for speeding in NZ on a UK licence our local police man(friend) showed me his latest ammendments to the Traffic Book.....they will process the fines here(NZ) or if you slip through the system the Police have been told to send the offence to the UK and they will prosicute who ever at home.As if the Police don't have enough to do!
On another note,he showed me that if you don't pay the fine in NZ as a 250$ fine here,it will be transfered to a 250 pound fine in the UK.....i'm sure i dont need to explain the maths.

In my limited and lay opinion, maybe there is some informal bureaucratic agreement between NZ and UK police but as a foreign jursidiction, the NZ authorities would have to apply to the UK to extradite one and succeed to make it stick.

But maybe in the current 'Speed kills' hysterical climate the Home Sec would consider speeding a grave enough crime to warrant extradition

as i understood it,its not extredition but a simple fine transfer from NZ to UK or UK to NZ,so as to make a sort of level revenue collecting field.I was also told it was the British that requested the system,no one in NZ realises the state of affairs in the UK concerning points and motorist bashing.Hey ho

yes I'm sure your contact is correct that such a scehme has been informally set up - and possibly its stautus is illegal in the UK. If one is nicked in NZ and doesn't want to play ball I cannot see how the the British Police could legally enforce collecting the fine.
