Right his my thoughts....

Went into a few Dealers over the weekend with a mate looking for a new bike. I ended up sitting on a few steeds..

I'm just amazed the size off some off the other 600's, they are so much smaller and lighter than my 636, makes the Kwak feel like a overwieght dog rather than a greyhound...

Anyway, once i've sorted the house out was thinking of upgrading. My previous thoughts lead me towards a Litre bike, but now i don't know if having a smaller bike I can throw around will give me more kicks...I'm not one for doing uber leptons, but prefer the twisty stuff to play on...

So whats does the BB knowlege database think?? Small bike or Big CC??

Simple answer, buy a modern litre bike biggrin

The Blade is smaller in length and height than my old CBR600F. Bit wider in the beam, but still infinitely chuckable. Try it, but do be prepared to want to lob money at the dealer just so you can take it home and gloat.

Try and find a decent dealer who understands what you are looking for, and is happy to let you play on a few bikes first, see which of the current crop you fancy.

Why not follow Chilli down the 750 route, best of both worlds.

You could always hedge your bets and test a 750 biggrin

You would have to be an exceptionally good rider to notice much difference in overall speed between a thou and a 600 on the twisties so it’ll be more about how a bike ‘feels’ to you. Try some bikes of different capacities and see which ones ‘float your boat’. Also try some of the twins and triples as they may provide a good ‘compromise’ or just something a little different.

Ya Bastids...all of ya!

Seriously, take the Gixer 750 out for a spin. It is a few cm's lower than the R6, and feels easily as flickable (is that a word?!) if not moreso. I don't know whether its just a few more months of experience or the bike, but my riding on the track has improved greatly.
And it feels tiny, it really does, but goes pretty well!

I would say do the "Thou thing". You will still be able to have fun in the twisty stuff, no need to worry about top speed if you have any self control.

I love thousands' - thought several times about going for a 600 as I'm all about the corners rather than straight line speed. The problem is that the 600's feel so weak compared to a thousand on the road because the traffic gets in the way and you have to ensure you're in the right gear to make progress. I'd love to have a 600 track bike (hired an R6 cup which was fantastic on the track) but I doubt I'll ever change from the thousand club on the road.

750 might suit but I have to say even that felt flat compared to my old GSXR 1000. It's also what you're used to - who knows, if I used a 600 for a few months I might change my mind.
