Sprint magazine
Discussion
Id like to add to the 'why isnt the TVRCC forum open to all?' with...
Why is sprint magazine not available for the general public to buy in the shops?
surely it would be good for the club and allow more people to show an interest in the marque at a time when it needs all the support it can get!!
The latest issue of sprint that arrived on my door yesterday, might i say that the diamond rock review was well written and the pictures looked great! i wish i could have been there! the magazine is deffinatly getting better and has more useful information, photo's and better reading than when i first signed up!
Oh and a big well done to the people who put the effort into the magazine for us to read about the action going on around the uk!

I will probably make myself very unpopular here, but I have to say I am not that impressed with Sprint, it's very good on reporting all the "clubby" events stuff and the TVR specialists that advertise there are useful.
What I think is lacking is enough technical nitty gritty stuff, would love to read about peoples upgrades, re-builds and enhancements personally.
It would also be good to get more insight into TVRCC Challenge cars from both a technical and driving perspective, preparation, budgets etc. rather than just listing the results of races.

Wish I could agree. Full or errors that people that were there and peolpe that know the cars should not really allow. It pees me off. (rantover)As to Sprint being available to non-members and forum access to all. Will result in 17.5% increase in car club subs I'm afraid.

John, I was only pulling your leg, I'm sorry it didn't come across that way. My wife and I are the ROs for Surrey. We try to contribute to the club magazine as much as we can. As far as typos go, I'm not that bothered about it, the editorial team have limited time and do an excellent job as far as I'm concerned. I don't have the depth of history with TVR you obviously do, so things slip past me unnoticed. I'm with David on this one though, if you care enough, get involved and do something about it. I'm sure the Sprint team would welcome any help.

I know who you are Steve, we met you and your good lady at Brooklands unless I am very much mistaken. You are both an excellent example of pople who make the club TICK. Still does not stop me being peed off with articles full of mistooks.....Steve.

As far as getting involved with the club and sprint? we've done our bit. That's why there is still a car club. Still, like you say, history is possibly not your strong point.

Fair enough John. I notice that there are quite a lot of folks who would like to change things and I'd put it this way. It'd be easier to make an improvement with a large number of people contributing a small amount than vice versa. Re. proof reading, it ought to be possible to get together enough people so that each person only had to check one article a month. Strikes me that wouldn't be too much of a burden, given how much we all use email and forums these days. Perhaps use more than one person allocated to the big stuff such as Rockingham type write ups.

Steve, I missed your edit, you missed mine which intimates my defence for not getting involved other than as an active family who pay two membership fees and promote the marque at every oppurtunity. I do however tend to agree with your last point, but do not see how it would work in practice given the deadlines the mag has.Steve.

Graham,Thanks for the other comments which I have, modestly, not quoted.
I'd love the mag to go 'public'. But I think there would be little to gain for the members. I accept that TVR needs to have its profile lifted but is that something that the Club could afford to invest in? Most TVR owners know about the Club and can make an informed choice as to whether to join. There are a finite number of TVRs out there and very few Club members who do not own a TVR who have never owned one or are not looking to buy one (is that clear?). The profile of the Factory, and the Club, will increase as soon as the Factory to produce cars. (Holding breath.)
The Challenge was on the TV last night. That's what we need to encourage. Racing spreads the word like nothing else. The Tuscan Challenge brought money into the Factory in its great years as well as buyers into the showrooms.

I dont think typos matter that much. It's more the factual errors that would worry me. You know the sort; TVR will honour the balance of all warranties, 27 US dealers have commited to buy 1500 cars in 2008, HHC Hexham have closed down etc.. that sort of stuff.
