Windscreens

While trying to sort my brakes out I'am now getting that I can't get hold of the windscreen.(50mm Band)
Was told 7-8 weeks ago " Yes sir. We always keep a good stock"
Go to order one! "Next week"
Still waiting for next week to come.
Anyone know anyone who has one?
Tried the following = David Gerald, TVR CarPart, RaceTech

I got mine through RAC Windscreens (had to use them cos of insurers choice), they got it in double quick time, but dont get them to fit it!...as far as im concerned they are complete ws, and made a complete hash of fitting mine...but maybe theyll be able to "supply only" to you.

What happened?

I've had the "old" style windscreen recently fitted to my 96.

A plan insurance put me through "National windscreens/ mobile windscreens".

The local one to me is in Halesowen.

When I rang them, I told them to try David Gerald or TVR Power if they couldn't get one.

I'm not sure if they got it from them, or if they had another supplier.

Did a good job, if you can't get one local and need to travel, feel free to come & inspect my car before you let Halesowen work on it.

rac fitted one four times on my mondeo.
theen they had to pay for the damaged paintwork to be repaired.

OH dear! Sounds like I will be thinking twice about RAC autoglass.
Also been told that there are no 50mm band windscreens in the UK until they come from Finland sometime in the distant time!

Can't get one.

Well, I have called Rick Evans and things are not looking to fruitful.
It seem that 96-97 cars have the 50mm band
and 98-2004 use the 30mm band.
I have a 98 car with a bleeding 50mm band!! Ain't that a
So, If anyone else knows where I can get my hands on one I will
PLENTY!!

I was under the impression that there are two different sizes of screen, pre 98 & post 98.

I'm not even sure what "the band" is.

I assumed that was the blacked off edge - so I cant quite understand why its such an issue?

Mine is a late 98 and has a 50mm band on top and a 30mm band on bottom, i thought the only differance was if the screen was heated or not
