My Punto clutch pedal has been creaking for some time now. I rang up Dr Clutch and they said puntos have a very weak clutch release bearing, so i though its the clutch on the way out.

Anyway today i got someone to push the clutch up and down why i tried to source the noise. This i what i found.

The noise seems to come from the Actuator, what is this called?

Is this a big job, eg should i replace the clutch too?

I have removed the rubber cover and put oil grease and WD40 down it, it is now quite (should have done this ages ago).

Thanks

Throw out bearings don't creak, they squeal. I can't see your picture but assume you are referring to the Clutch Release Fork. It is very common for these to creak when they get dry and grease is the proper lubricant for them. I've seen the pivot ball wear right through the release fork on forks that never get greased. The photo below may not look like the release fork on your vehicle (it's from a Volvo...I think) but the idea is to grease the fork any where something makes contact with it, cable, pivot ball, throwout bearing, etc.
