With one amendment, that sentence makes sense...if I may...

"Now that he's won the big one and singularly failed to impress in his F1 test with Jaguar, there's not much of a choice, is there?"

I do hope he wins the championship this year though - I've gone on record as having considered him a washed-up has-been and I'm having to eat those words right now!
