Sorry to hear the bad news Tom 
Some one did that to me in Portsmouth some years ago!! Left the car parked in the city over night and came back to it next morning to find someone had reversed into the front !! They left a nice deep scratch up the nose of the car (exhaust pipe I guess) and smashed the driverside headlamp cover.... and of course... no note !!
But you're probably right not to repair on insurance. What ever it costs you now might well be less that the insurance hike next renewal !?!?

Where did you go in the end? I am in need of minor repair to a scratch on my front wing - this one my own fault. It is about 4 inches long, about half an inch wide, goes all the way into the gf - so no polishing this one out.
How much should something like this cost to repair? - and is the pearlescent paint going to be a problem if I take it to a local indie place?
