8 mile journey last night - first time in ages with headlights on. As I arrive at my destination the car stutters, then stalls. I try to restart but the alarm goes off. I switch everything off and then back on again - nothing, doors won't open, all electrics dead. I switch the ignition on and off a few times and press the arm/disarmj on my key fob and finally get electrics back. Try to start car, yer, yerm yer, just like a flat battery - won't turn the engine over. I leave it for 30 minutes, come back and the car will just start but showing 10Volts in battery.

What the blazes is going on?

But why would it just suddenly cook like that after an 8 mile journey haveing worked flawlessly for 3,000 miles?

Maybe one of the battery's cells has shorted ... I think each cell in a lead-acid battery produces 2V

frown Check infamous 100amp fuse under airbox - happened to me twice before I very thoroughly cleaned contacts & tightened new fuse in place; without it car will run but not many miles as the systems especially power steering drain the battery. Been fine last 18mths.

Where is this fuse? Also does anyone know where to hitch a tow rope?

I found out during a 25-mile trip with low battery and no charge from alternator - as 100A fuse had blown & no spare - but no lights needed. Seeing volts drain rapidly, only thing slowed drain down was disconnecting power steering relay as it was taking current from battery which alt. wasn't replacing.

You'll find the fuse once airbox is removed (there is a 3rd clip hidden mid-way along back of airbox) Fuse is bolted to engine mid-way below bottom airbox, between 2 large cables. smile

Tow rop eye is on front o/s corner of chassis. If you look under the front splitter you can see a triangular shaped eye. I've never used mine and it looks like the rope could do some damage to the front splitter if not very careful, especially if the towing vehicle is high. You would think that a good towing eye would be high priority on a TVR's design wink

when winching mine onto a low loader, they attached there, it did put alot of pressure on the splitter and the center front valance.you could hear it creaking..

if you were to tow down the road by another vehicle, who knows...

Don't know but they do. I had the same happen twice on a 3-series BMW. No warning whatsoever. Almost certainly your problem is the battery

Agree it sounds like the 100amp. Just one thing to add make sure you check the fuse holder and all the connections really well. Mine ate fuses by the bagfull until I discovered the conections were not tighted properly-its been fine since then.

'twas indeed the 100amp fuse - fixed it this morning. Car's going into TVR Centre next week to see if we can sort out the high speed vibrations - nearly there smile

Thanks for all your help guys!
