Skiers, mountaineers, oil magnates and ordinary mortals who fancy a trip to Scotland at any time of the year, beware of the following:

A9 to Aviemore and Inverness.
A93 to Spittal of Glenshee and Braemar.
A90 or A94 to Aberdeen.

OK as far as Perth on the M90 and as far as Dunblane on the M9, but well hidden cameras thereafter, with no relation to accident blackspots.

Have they camera'd the Glenshee road?
Swine, that was one of my favourite blasts, wonderful straights/corners and great forward visibility so you can take the corner using the whole road.

I'll need to head further north instead - and not via Aviemore...

BASTARDS!! the A9 was a cracking road and you can see about a mile ahead so how can it be bloody dangerous, it even has signs at laybys telling slow traffic to pull in and allow others past

Neil, it may not be too bad beyond Blairgowrie, particularly on the twisty bits, but I wouldn't count on it.

Pete, my younger son used the A9 recently and it was so grim he stuck close to the limit(s) the whole way.

We both went to Aberdeen a couple of months ago, and honestly we'd have been better taking the train.

That's two of the best roads in the country up the spout. Bastards indeed!

I thought we weren't doing too badly up here for speed cameras, apart from the A1, A68, and A90, where I've a good idea of where the cameras are - don't travel the A9 (or head west) very often - but I might just invest in a Geodesy soon if they're popping up on more roads.
At least if the A93 is only camera'd up to Blairgowrie, the fun bit is still unfettered - from the Spittal of Glenshee up to Braemar must be one of my favourite roads.

Neil, will try to gather some more local info on this one, and come back to you later.

Cheers, Ian.

You have to admire the strategy.

Pick nice safe roads, that have "low compliance", and put a few cameras there.

Top marks for money making, zero for road safety.
