Mod-wise boot opening kit
Discussion
Just fitted one of these at the weekend. But I found that the central locking motor is in the way of where the micro switch should go. I contacted Dave at Mod-Wise and he said that this problem has been overcome in the past but did not know exactly how. Anybody here know how? Please.
Try a search for "BOOT OPENING FROM MIRROR SWITCH", would do a link for you but don't know how to. Simon Roberts seemed to get round the problem. I'd be interested in the outcome, I brought the kit but haven't fitted it yet.

If you are talking about the reed-switch I positioned mine inside the off-side rear lens, however I know David has also positioned them centrally behind the number plate. Sorry but I can't see how the solonoid release could be in the same position as where you want to place the reed-switch. Give us a better idea of where you want it? Rich...
I fitted a push button switch inside the car below the hood mounting bolt driver's side to open boot when alarm switched off. Basically I have wired up a relay so that when the interior light comes on I can open the boot by using my new switch. Obviously by the same token it will only work with either door open and not with both doors closed. Therefore if the car is parked locked with the roof off the switch is disabled and you cannot open the boot. It may not be a perfect solution but it sounds a lot simpler than mucking around with reed switches, took less than an hour to fit and solved my problem for a massive investment of £8.00.

The beauty of the mod-wise boot opening kit is that you don't have to access the car to open the boot. Just zap the doors open, activate the reed switch by waving key-fob across rear light lens/no plate and drop your luggage/shopping/sports bag into the boot before entering the car. It allows a natural sequence - unlock, stow luggage, jump in car and drive off! Brilliant!
I'm interested in this kit. So you just wave the alarm fob close to where the reed switch is located - behind the plate or light cluster. Do you have to press one of the alarm fob buttons? Is there any modification to make to the fob itself? or does this reed switch sense the presence of something in the fob? (I'm not an electronic expert).
Thanks.

Hi I have the kit, it arrived this week so if all goes well I will be fitting it today, along with clear front indicators. The kit seems well made and there is a lot of wire
but it is not too frightening. The reed switch is sealed in some plastic to make it water proof and can be placed in most places. The trick to the system is the micro switch that sits on the door lock, this detects if the door is open, which means the kit will only open the boot if you have unlocked the doors via the remote. The door does not have to be opened, just unlocked. The fob is "modified" in that a small magnet is slipped inside the leather TVR key fob and it is the magnet that trips the reed switch.
Hope That helps.
