It wasn't until the cold light of day that I finally clocked the top gear car's sponsor logo's on the car, and the position of words in relation to the doors.

Top class.

I wonder if Mr Tucker noticed....

The top Gear car had truely inspired sticker work...

With the front doors open if you looked at the car from the front it said "Arse Biscuits" on one side and Penis on the other!!!

Best bit of Top Gear's involvement for me was seeing Hamster's face before night qually - 'bricking it' doesnt seem sufficient to describe it!

Great event once again, loved it. They even kindly provided a quiet period on Sunday morning to get some sleep, so thanks for that!

Well done to all at the EERC for making this race work so well and likewise to all the folks on here who were involved in some way, be it driving, spannering, number-crunching or whatever. I, for one, am looking forward to 2008!

So which of the three signed-on Stigs (saw the names at race control as Stig [stig1name], etc.) is that in the picture and were the words on the doors meant for certain drivers (i.e. 'arse' for Captain Slow, and 'penis' for Clarkson), and was that a light I saw in the cabin during the night or was it Hamsters whitened teeth?

PS can TG get some of the marshals onto the show when they do the 24hr piece - as we could use the help on these events and this would be a great way to enlist more volunteers (maybe get the TG crew to marshal at next years one)!

I'm sworn to secrecy on Stig related stuff, but lets just say there wasn't quite as many as the paddock chatter was suggesting. The stickering started as a joke and went from there, a lot of them thought it wouldn't pass the scrutineers let alone the BBC controllers! We did indeed have a light in the car that was remote operated (the car itself had three cameras all recording for 5 hours at a time between changes, the whole kit must have weighed about 100kg's), it didn't help their night vision much I don't think.

On a serious note they all were very impressed at the organisation of the event and yes, I did suggest that credit where credit is due in that 99% of the people there had either paid a lot of money to do it or simply volunteered their time and skill for free and thats easily missed in TV land. I sometimes feel that the media sees motor racing as F1 and thats it, when anyone who does it knows that F1 represents probably only 1% of the amount of motorsport that goes on in this (or any other country) and that should be reflected.

I've read a lot about JC, James, Richard and can honestly say that all three came accross as nice friendly people, happy to hear an opinion and share their own without recourse to any kind of "I'm a star, you're a little person" type attitude, I'm sure the feature will be light hearted but in reality they all drove their very hardest with a very serious attitiude to the task in hand. Mind you I scared Richard just as he was about to go out when I pointed out that his Hans device has "Experimental Item, not for use" written on the back so these guys are not without a sense of humour.

Damn fine pics there Mark, lots of Green Civics . I drove both cars (67 & 68), 3hrs on/3hrs off (EERC 120min break rules), almost 12 hrs of driving.

I was driving car 68 when it was hit at what must have been close to 100mph by the Duke Video M3 following brake fade into Vale. The rear quarter was virtually destroyed but the team repaired it, replaced the bent race suspension with essentially road suspension and we finished the race, and 4th in class.

Car 67 had a much happier time, despite a side swipe from a Marcos in the first couple of hours which altered the handling somewhat, and losing 3rd & 4th gear for the last half hour we finished and won our class (Class 3).

oh and the cameraderie wasn't lost on JC either. It was pretty close with another 330d in the race from Saxon Motorsport, they had problems towards the end and we were straight over diagnosing what the problem was for them which resulted in them getting back going again and finishing the event even though they were quicker overall and we were in effect helping a close competitor, never for one second did anything stop to think "oh but we're racing against them" and not lend a hand.

There's a reason there is a lot of Civic photos I do the race reports for Fiona's website, the one for this race is already written so hopefully it'll be up soon. (I don't do that part!) I was also trying to get some photos for Ben in the 67 car. I wish I'd managed to speak to you during the race, but I didn't know who anyone in the team was (Other than Fiona and Ben obviously!) and I was trying to stay out of the way as much as possible. That was quite impressive driving the race in both cars a fact I've mentioned in the report. Was it through choice or were you a driver short?
