So, would someone like to report of the effectiveness of the FM feature please?

So far so good - particularly with roof down as it interrupts any MP3 music with directions. Only problem is with a long drive eg in France for hundreds of miles you need to retune the autotune feature to save interference from local radio stations; alternatively take potluck and select your own frequency.

I used to have a plain 660 (nicked) and I find the FM function a real asset for convertible motoring, particularly when combined with a powerful stereo. MP3 functionality with a big SD card means that you can take loads of music on a long trip without bothering with CDs. Useful with Bluetooth for hands free phone too.

For me with my car the 660FM is worth the extra over the 660.

If you have a head unit with the facility to connect to an MP3 player via the headphone jack, use this with a non-FM Garmin, you'll get a better signal too. Alternatively you can alway buy a cheap FM transmitter, usually a tenner with a tank of fuel at petrol station.
