Hi. This is my first post on this site. I have just turned 18 years old, and want to do something with a bit more adrenaline, other than football.

I saw a couple of months ago, the program 'Vroom Vroom', where a lady was trying out Grass track racing and I thought to myself, 'I want a go at that!'. It's cheap to run aswel.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the cars necesary (a mini preferably), or where I can race in the South East of England.

Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if "grass auto testing" was what you were meaning as grass track racing generally refers to motocycles and quads.

We have done a little bit of grass auto testing which was great fun. It's not racing as such, but more time trial driving in, through and around cones (both forward and in reverse) set out on a grass field. Excellent fun!
A small light FF car is will see you getting the quicker times. Big family barges and our little MR2's are just not competitive enough - although we do it for a laugh and not to be competitive, like some of the others who take it quite seriously (not unfriendly though).

We did it through the Rugby and Coventry Motor Clubs. You need to be a member of a similar club to go it as far as I'm aware. I'm sure a google search will show up something.

All depends on your budget, there's everything from class 2 restricted sub 1300cc production racers through to unlimited class 10 specials..

Let me know what level of the sport you'd like to enter into and either hodgy587 or I will try to give you some guidance..

I'm on a pretty low budget at the moment, I'm thinking of spending a maximum of £500, tops. To start with, I only want to drive with other beginners at a basic standard.

Get yourself a beaten-up but smooth-running E30 BMW, strip it out, rear-drive hoonery for peanuts hehe

I was thinking of doing the same and my plan was to get along to a meeting to watch and then check out ebay. You'll pick something up in class 1 or 2 with your budget I imagine.
