HELP! Can't open bonnet

Hi guys,

Went to open the bonnet of my Chim500 at the weekend to check oil etc... pulled the bonnet release and it wouldn't budge at all, which is odd as I had no problems a few weeks ago.

Any ideas what's happened and why? And ultimately, how do I get the bonnet up?

Assuming the cable has not snapped, WD40 on catch? These things do stretch over time, so could be time to replace?

Hmmm, I don't think the cable has snapped, as if it had I would have thought I would be able to pull the release towards me and the same if the cable had stretched, but it just won't budge at the moment.

Even if I can't get in for now, can I assume the garage (it's due a service in a couple of weeks) will have no problems getting in??

try banging on the bonnet in the area of the catch to see if that frees it off as you simultaneously pull on the release cable ..

Sounds like the cable has siezed this has just happened on mine and i am told is quite common.
If you are lucky you can get your hand in near the wipers and pull the cable from there, worked on mine.
