Opinions on Radweld
Discussion
Yesterday , when 100 miles from home , noticed a small coolant leak and a hissing noise from somewhere near the base of the nearside of the radiator. No great jump in temperature so no damage done. Treated with radweld , filled up with water and got home , watching the guage like a hawk , but no problems .
What now ? Is it imperitive to fix /change the radiator , or is radweld a long term solution ?

Thanks for info. Does the bonnet have to come off in order to get the radiator out.
No, well not on mine anyway(2000 X reg), it is not a bad job to do at all. I tied the bonnet up higher than where the rod would have raised it to though, to make life easier. If you are doing it alone it might be worth having some extra hands to stops you scratching the paintwork whilst lifting the rad out.
Just lift & tilt the rad onto the y-piece, don't try and lift it straight out. Keep it straight and don't twist it, you can get it wedged and start scratching inner wings if you are not careful. Easy one man job really once you have disconnected / drained everything.
I think the rad re-corers will be happier the quicker you get it to them, and the greater effort you make to get the darned stuff flushed out
