After months of agonising over whether I should be sensible I picked up my first Chim on Sat. A 97 Cheery Red 450 with biscuit interior. Drove 350 miles on Sat without any problems. LOVED IT.

Yesterday my left windscreen wiper stopped working. Ha. Even that didnt wipe the smile off my face. I have the Bible but haven't looked into it yet. Suspect has fallen off the drive or something - any ideas where to start?

This may sound a bit daft but before you attempt to take apart any of the wiper system try just lifting the blade off the screen (ignition & wipers on) and see if they go across that way.
The wiper motor is notoriously weak and the blades can stick on a dry screen.

Hey! Congratulations!

Check the bolt that holds the wiper on. Sometimes they come loose and the wiper stops moving, that hapened to mine. Sounds likely if it's only one side. Or could be the motor that powers the wiper?

Good luck and have fun!

J

Thought mine were broken the first time the screen was a bit dry! - Really annoying if there are just a few spots on your screen and its ok on the up stroke, then slows to a stop half way back down. rolleyes

Congratulations - I'm sure you now have a constant grin on your face now!

Good choice with the 450 (but then i am biased!)

Right then, let's see a picture of the thing then!
This is really a test of your skills, as a driver, as its directly linked to computor knowledge.
Everone knows if you have the skill to post a pic, you are indeed a man of the world?
So, lets see the thing!

Will take pics and post tomorrow.

Bit worried it might make me lose my licence if i don't keep an eye on the speedo...

can't wait till weekend when i get another chance to drive it.

tbh i had an mg before and that used to generally have two or three little problems on the go at any one time. i'm used to the high quality of british engineering... glad to be in the club!

Advanced feature unique to TVRs - it will only wipe the passenger's side of the screen if there is a)a passenger in place and b) rain on that side of the screen - works using pressure sensors in the seat squabs and rain sensors.
