Hi,

I'd like to find out what is involved in setting up a card processing service - like datacash, protx.
Anyone out there got any experience and can point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Ah, re-reading my post and it's occurred to me that my choice of words wasn't very clear.

I'm not looking to use a payment provider - I'm looking to setup in business as a payment provider.
Programming - I can do - it's the integration with the banks etc that I need guidance on.

:-)

There are a number of regulatory issues depending on what you are trying to do. If you need some pointers, I may be able to help a bit.

Grrr making no progress with finding out what's involved in terms of arrangements with banks etc.

I'm in a similar situation right now.

Having just started I don't have a merchant account(or even a business account for that matter) and have been using PayPal and cheques only for recieving payments from my customers.

It's a little embarassing and unproffessional looking if a customer phones and I have to tell them I can't accept credit/debit card payments.

Is there an easy way to do this. Like, is there a company who will handle cc transactions, give me the money and take a commission?

Any help appreciated.

Um, I think you guys are talking about different things!

Horza - you are looking for a way to accept debit and credit cards which many people on here will have experiance of and an opinion on. The OP is looking to set up a completly new processing service which is a whole different ball game.

Hi Horza,

Worldpay is a good place to start. They are more expensive than a merchant account but you shouldn't have too many problems getting setup.

If you use quickbooks I think they have a deal where you get cheap transaction costs and discounted signup.

Personally I would steer you clear of some of the others - PM me if you want details of who - don't want to break the naming and shaming rules.

Not wishing to drift this thread too much....but can anyone direct me to a Merchanting Service that will accept currency transactions i.e. I am selling foreign currency and want customers to be able to use c.cards to buy.....

It seems that this is a no-no with most providers....

Thanks

Hi can you clarify for me a bit more of what you're after - might be able to help.
Is it that you want to charge in different/multiple currencies?
