BIRKETT RELAY CHARITY SPONSORSHIP OPPERTUNITY

Hi I have been speaking to the people at the childrens society about usin g the Birkett relay as a fundraising oppertunity, and wanted to let everyone know whats going on.
1) we are looking to raise funds specificly for young carers. these are kids whos parent or even both parents are dependant upon thier children to simply exist.
these kids are making breakfast washing , dealing with lavatorial and hygene issues for their parents before school and returning to the same joys when they finish!
these kids have NO LIFE and the young carers initiative seeks to give them days out etc to offer a little joy in their existance.
2) we are looking for as many teams to help us raise funds from within this 1 event
I am confident that we could manage £5000 and possibly more.
If you are a team manager and are willing to help ( pre race only, on race day its busines) please contact me via the messaging service. 100% of all funds will be donated to the charity, and headed sponsorship forms will be used.
3) we are then hoping to spend some of the money on giving petrol head kids a day to remember, by arranging some hot laps in our cars ( yours too if you can, although senior drivers are prefered ( no offence)either around dony or Silverstone.
Ie the funds will pay for the track time and lay on something of a buffet. It is as close as some of these kids will ever get to the inside of a race car and as children they will love every minute of it.
Please help with this it would be quite easy to get a good sum raised with little to no effort and we can all feel good about it.
We are also looking for some "pit babes" to help if you know of any, to pass amongst the garages with sealed buckets to gain further funds on the day.
we also propose a fines box for each team where by, if you or a team mate comit an error that costs your team, you pay a fine, say a fiver, if you cause a yellow flag, its a fiver, etc etc also poss use it as a swear box!!??
It is shortly to be mentioned in the motoring press ( assuming their media dept, pulls their finger out, so this should help with gaining sponsors if each driver manages just £100 we could do very well>

i am not sure that the way you have outlined here is the best/most appropriate way to raise money for charity (in paticular using the money to pay for the use of Stock hatch cars/hire of donny etc.
the point about charity is that you give something of yourself for free.
if you want to do fast laps, auction them off on ebay - say for 3 laps at a time, thn arrange the date, and the money raised goes to this charity.
alternatively set up a justgiving webpage and get people to sponsor you/your team per lap.
finally once you've raised the money, then maybe speak with the directors of the charity to see if they want hire you/your car as a day out for the kids.
it might not be something that they want to do, certainly i doubt they'll want to put they're own money into it.
All IMHO of course.

once the funds are raised, the intention is to use some of it to buy the track time.
the cars and fuel transportation to the circuit, ware and tare etc will be covered at the drivesr expence.
does this not constitute any form of giving??

we get paid by the lap
ie say 5p a lap
we do 200 laps
you give us a tenner
we give all the money, raised, (none heald back or contributed to our racing at all)
to kids who have a shit life, who have to wipe their own parents arses for them because they are bed riden or wheel chair bound, or have mental disabilities, which mean they probably don't even know who their own kids are anyway.
