Danny,
as no-one else has responded yet, I'll try to help. To bleed the cooling system in most cars you simply remove the cap on the radiator or overflow/expansion tank when cold. Start the car and let the engine run until the thermostat opens and allow the coolant to circulate for a little while - this way air will be released through the open cap. Keep a watchful eye on the gauge and the coolant - no firing 'er up and going to make a cuppa smile

On my Countach though, there appear to be bleed points on the coolant pipes just before the radiators. I haven't yet serviced my car so can't advise for sure. I would try the method detailed above first, unless someone with more Diablo specific knowledge knows better?
My owners handbook for the Countach is very detailed about maintenance procedures - so much so that my Wife thought it was a mechanics supplement at first - check yours, it may well detail a procedure for this.

make sure you take out all of the water from bolt holes before replacing as this cracks the casing, also reseal with grease not sealant, (I used the old gasket after cleaning it up carfully) be carful with other hoses as I have had leaks from rad pipes after disturbing them. Pretty easy job though

Hi Danny,
thermostats your problem and a common occurence. Get a new one from Mike fairly easy to fit. At Le Mans 2006 Nick had the 99SV and we had to take the thermostat out of that as she started running hot, then sod me on the way back home in the 93 Diablo we started having the same problem. Too late to change it we spent most of the journey home staring at the temp guage and cra**ing ourselves queing at the payage's (sorry for the spelling but you no what I mean).

Is it possible to run the car without a thermostat ? seeing as most of my driving with a few exceptions is around town I would prefer the temp to keep low , but not too low that I may damage as a result of being too cool?

Thanks
