Thanks for the interest mate, the whole project is going very well thanks. It's calmed down a little now,as you know,it couldn't be ready for the growl in the end,so the rush for a finish time is over. The engine is complete and in the car,and wiring completed,Joo has made most if not all of the cooling system by now,and the induction will be next, which will be the last 'stage' in getting the car on the road really.I need to get some alterations made to the new exhaust sytem as well before it's finally on the road.
So all in all it shouldn't be too long now before its up and running properly, but i'm in no rush, and obviously Joo has a lot of other work as well. The plan is to run it for a month or so,before the paint and trim will be carried out,and in this month i'm also planning to take some driving tuition with the car,in order to get accustomed to it
I must say i've been really bowled over by all the kind messages of help, encouragement, enthusiasm and support, both from good freinds and strangers alike, and it really has helped make the project so much more enjoyable for it,so a big thanks to all those people
.
I will add and update the webshots site regularly, and already have some more pictures of further progress to add,so they will appear very soon.BB has also asked for some pictures for The Griffith Pages, but i've been having trouble uploading them(did you get my last mail BB?).Hopefully you'll be able to see more on there as well.
Thanks once again,Mike

Mike will be up on Saturday to see the Griff, so should be able to report more fully after. It's not just an engine into a car, it's basically a full mechanical refurb .. in effect by the time the paint and trim are done the car will have had almost a full restoration, but in keeping with the development status of the car .. so all the old funny brackets and what-nots that TVR had added over the years are still in evidence to preserve the history of the car etc. I think that the only thing holding up starting the beast now is getting my alloy coolant tank which is being made at the moment.
the list of work is quite long, but in effect the chassis is repaired / sandblasted /powder coated /painted. All suspension bushes/joints replaced. All brakes reconditioned. new gearbox. Castle Race Engines rebuilt and tuned engine. New exhaust. All brake lines / fuel lines replaced, new pumps, new HID headlamps with new perspex covers. And a whole load of new fabrication to get things to fit. The engine was out for the fourth time today! But it's nearly there!! woohoo!

I say Mr V, what have you done with the exhaust manifolds? Are they straight from a Cerb or specials? I can't quite make them out in the polaroids ...
Theyre custom specials,LG.A compromise between performance, fitting limitations due to development history, and an attempt at something along the lines of what was fitted originally!I'll be putting some more pics on webshots either tonight or tomorrow, then will get a load re-sized for the griff pages.

Have you seen the article in Sprint this month on zorsts? It looks very interesting - you may be a prime candidate ... ?
I think it's this lot here.
Apologies for the non-AJP tangent, but my Griff's currently at Tulletts so they can tweak what they made in the Sprint mag to fit a serpentine Griff. Requirements are equal length manifold, race cat, <105db, <98db with additional silencing. I was there when Steve obtained the (rather amazing) 10% power increase on his 5 litre V8S and hence can vouch for efforts made to ensure it was a genuine assessment. I've set my hopes rather lower, but I'm still expecting a notable increase to the figures with a freer top end. I'll let you know how we get on.I think it's this lot here.

What's that jacket thingummy on the chassis Mike?
It's an insulation jacket LG,the kind you get on the later 't' cars. The one we have used is off a T350 and fitted perfectly without any modification.Edited to add that on the webshots page there should hopefully be a few brief words underneath each picture, apart from the caption above it.
