Are the stock brakes any good .

The landlord at my local has a stock late run Supra twin turbo auto which has been standing for about 2 years , the brakes are rusted badly so need replacement.

Question is whether to replace them with stock or uprated items , we need all round brakes and discs.

Just trying the get the car through an mot and then it will be fully serviced etc

JDM TT's came as standard with 2 pot fronts 1 pot rears. The UK/exports TT's all came with the bigger 4 pot fronts, 2 pot rears which are excellent. Some JDM TT's came with the 4/2pot combination as it was an option when new.

should have added:

DBA discs (4000)
Carbotech pads ( Endless good too as mentioned)

It is an easy swap for the bigger brakes, but you do need to lose the stone guard front & rear ( no big deal)

Import GT4 came with 4 pots iirc.
Yup 4 pots on the GT4 - also has the same pads (not sure about discs though) as the UK Supra, don't know how they got away with the Supra having the twin pots when the GT4 had 4!

Is it possible the bigger brakes were on the GT4 for rally homologation? Whereas AFAIK they never raced a production-based Supra.

Lots of pics here if it's any good http://www.celicagtfour.com/205_brake_upgrade.htm

I could take some pics of mine if there's anything you specifically need?

Suspect the engineers just slapped on the biggest brakes they could find and hid the invoice.

The twin pots on JDM supras are really not up to the job.
